16.9 FAQ Relating to Firmware Update
Q: Is it okay to reboot twice when updating the CMU firmware?
  1. A: That would not be a problem.
Q: In the systems with multiple XSCFs, why are the master XSCF and standby XSCF switched partway through an update?
  1. A: The master XSCF exercises control to apply the firmware update to the standby XSCF. Upon completion of the firmware update on the standby side, the standby side has new firmware. The standby side is switched with the master side to apply the firmware update to the XSCF again on the standby side (old master side).
Q: Can the CMU firmware be updated on all physical partitions at one time?
  1. A: Yes. If the power of all physical partitions is off, the firmware can be updated at one time. If the power of a physical partition is on, you can update it to the new firmware by executing the poweroff -a command and then the poweron -a command with all the physical partitions specified.
