14.4 Using SAN Boot
The SPARC M12/M10 supports SAN boot.
SAN boot is a system with external storage, rather than a built-in internal disk drive in the server, configured as the startup disk.
The SPARC M12/M10 uses a Fibre Channel card for connections between external storage devices, and the system can be configured to use SAN boot with the Fcode function of OpenBoot PROM.
