9.3.2 Inactive Reduction

9.3.2 Inactive Reduction
This section describes the method of reducing by stopping the target physical partition (PPAR). Perform the work in accordance with the procedure of the reference.
Before starting the work, be sure to see "9.1 Points of Concern During Reduction."
Table 9-3  Inactive Reduction Flow
Procedure Work Description Reference
1 Confirm the flow of inactive reduction work.   Required
2 Confirm the system running status. "9.2.1 Checking the Operation Status of Physical Partitions and Logical Domains" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
3 Check the I/O device usage status of the SPARC M12-2S to be removed. "9.2.2 Checking the Assignment Status of I/O Devices" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
4 Check the HDD/SSD usage status of the SPARC M12-2S to be removed. "9.2.3 Checking the Usage of the HDD/SSD" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
5 Release the assignment of I/O resources to logical domains of the SPARC M12-2S to be removed. "9.3 Releasing I/O Resources From a Logical Domain" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Optional (*1)
6 Confirm the system running status. "9.2.1 Checking the Operation Status of Physical Partitions and Logical Domains" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required (*2)
7 Save the logical domain configuration information. "9.1.1 Saving Logical Domain Configuration Information" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
8 Turn off the power of the physical partition containing the SPARC M12-2S to be removed. "7.12.5 Stopping a Specific Physical Partition (PPAR)" Required
9 Turn the OPNL mode switch to Service mode. "2.11 Checking the Functions of the Operation Panel" Required
10 Release the SPARC M12-2S to be removed, from the building block configuration. "7.8.2 Releasing a Specific Physical System Board (PSB) From a Physical Partition (PPAR)"
"9.7 Removing the SPARC M12-2S" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual
Required (*3)(*5)
11 Turn the OPNL mode switch to Locked mode. "2.11 Checking the Functions of the Operation Panel" Required
12 Turn on the power of the physical partition containing the SPARC M12-2S to be removed. "7.12.3 Starting a Specific Physical Partition (PPAR)" Required
13 Confirm the system running status after the release of SPARC M12-2S. "9.2.1 Checking the Operation Status of Physical Partitions and Logical Domains" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required (*2)
14 Save the logical domain configuration information. "9.1.1 Saving Logical Domain Configuration Information" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
15 Remove the chassis targeted for reduction. When removing from the rack, follow the reverse procedure of mounting. "3.4.1 Mounting the SPARC M12-2S in a Rack" Required (*4)(*5)
*1 When the reduction of SPARC M12-2S gives no impact to logical domains, this is not necessary.

*2 Reconfigure the logical domains as necessary. For details, see the Fujitsu SPARC M12 and Fujitsu M10/SPARC M10 Domain Configuration Guide.

*3 Before executing the initbb command, you need to confirm the chassis serial number from the system board to be released by executing the showhardconf command.

*4 The removed SPARC M12-2S will be at the factory default status after the execution of the initbb command. If you want to use it as another system, see "1.1 Workflows for the SPARC M12-2S" to perform installation.

*5 To disconnect expansion rack 2, it is necessary to remove the cables interconnecting the racks. In addition, disconnect expansion rack 1 and expansion rack 2 if necessary.
