9.2.2 Confirming the Reduction Configuration


9.2.2 Confirming the Reduction Configuration
This section describes the reduction mode confirmation work using Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual.
SPARC M12-2S reduction has three reduction configurations, which depend on the system operation status, as described below.
Table 9-1  Reduction Configurations
Reduction Configuration Description
Active reduction Method of reducing while the physical partition (PPAR) is operating (Oracle Solaris is running) (*1)
Inactive reduction Method of reducing after only the physical partition containing the SPARC M12-2S to be removed is stopped (Oracle Solaris is stopped)
System-stopped reduction Method of reducing after all the physical partitions are stopped
*1 This uses physical partition dynamic reconfiguration (DR).
