8.3.2 Inactive Expansion

8.3.2 Inactive Expansion
This section describes the method for SPARC M12-2S expansion by stopping the target physical partition (PPAR). Perform the work in accordance with the procedure of the reference.
Table 8-4  Inactive Expansion Flow
Procedure Work Description Reference
1 Confirm the flow of inactive expansion.   Required
2 Confirm the system running status. "9.2.1 Checking the Operation Status of Physical Partitions and Logical Domains" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
3 Turn the mode switch of OPNL to Service mode. "2.11 Checking the Functions of the Operation Panel" Required
4 Stop the physical partition to be incorporated. "7.12.5 Stopping a Specific Physical Partition (PPAR)" Required
5 Add a CPU Activation key to the system. "7.10.3 Registering a CPU Activation Key" Optional
6 Execute the showsscp command to check the SSCP IP address. Execute the setsscp command as needed to set the IP address. "7.5.4 Setting an SSCP IP Address" Optional
7 Execute the addfru command to incorporate an added SPARC M12-2S into a building block configuration.
The work of incorporation includes the following:
- Mounting the SPARC M12-2S in a rack

- Setting an ID number (BB-ID)

- Connecting a crossbar cable

- Connecting the XSCF BB control cable and XSCF DUAL control cable

- Connecting the LAN cable and power cords
"8.4 Incorporating the SPARC M12-2S to be Added" Required
8 Perform the initial diagnosis on the added SPARC M12-2S. "8.5 Initial Diagnosis of the SPARC M12-2S to be Added" Required
9 Confirm the configuration of the added SPARC M12-2S. "6.8 Checking the Status of Components" Required
10 Turn the mode switch of OPNL to Locked mode. "2.11 Checking the Functions of the Operation Panel" Required
11 Configure the XSCF network. The setting is unnecessary when expanding with multiple units (BB#02 or later). "7.5.2 Setting an Ethernet (XSCF-LAN) IP Address"
"7.5.3 Setting a Takeover IP Address"
Optional
12 To configure memory mirroring for the added SPARC M12-2S, set memory mirror mode. "7.6 Configuring Memory Mirroring" Optional
13 Execute the setpcl command to create a PPAR configuration list. "7.7 Creating a PPAR Configuration List" Required
14 Register a CPU Activation key with the system. "7.10 Registering a CPU Activation Key" Optional
15 Set the number of CPU Activations in the physical partition and assign CPU core resources. "7.11 Assigning CPU Core Resources" Optional
16 Assign the SPARC M12-2S (physical system board (‌PSB)‌) to a physical partition. "7.8.1 Assigning a Physical System Board (PSB) to a Physical Partition (PPAR)" Required
17 Power on the physical partition of the added SPARC M12-2S. "7.12.3 Starting a Specific Physical Partition (PPAR)" Required
18 Confirm the system running status. "10.5.3 Checking the FRU Status After Maintenance" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
19 Assign the resources of the added SPARC M12-2S to the logical domain. "3.2 Operations and Commands Related to Logical Domain Configurations" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12 and Fujitsu M10/SPARC M10 Domain Configuration Guide Required
