8.2.2 Confirming the Expansion Configurations


8.2.2 Confirming the Expansion Configurations
Using the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual, confirm the expansion configurations to be worked on.
SPARC M12-2S expansion has three expansion configurations, which depend on the system operation status at the SPARC M12-2S incorporation destination, as described below.
Table 8-2  Expansion Configurations
Expansion Configuration Description
Active expansion Method of expanding while the physical partition (PPAR) that is the incorporation destination is operating (Oracle Solaris is running) (*1)
Inactive expansion Method of expanding after only the physical partition that is the incorporation destination is stopped (Oracle Solaris is stopped)
System-stopped expansion Method of expanding after all the physical partitions are stopped
*1 This uses physical partition dynamic reconfiguration (PPAR DR).
