8.3.5 Adding Expansion Racks

8.3.5 Adding Expansion Racks
This section describes the procedure to add expansion rack 2 onto expansion rack 1.
Stop the entire system and then perform the work because you will be connecting expansion racks 1 and 2, connecting cables that pass between the racks, and doing other such tasks.
Before starting the work, be sure to see "8.1 Points of Concern During Expansion."
Table 8-7  Adding Expansion Racks
Procedure Work Description Reference
1 Execute the showsscp command to check the SSCP IP address. Execute the setsscp command as needed to set the IP address. "7.5.4 Setting an SSCP IP Address" Optional
2 Turn off the power of all physical partitions. "7.12.4 Stopping All Physical Partitions (PPARs)" Required
3 Turn off all the CB switches on the PDUs of expansion rack 1. A in Figure 3-3 in "3.3.1 Connecting the Power Cords to the Power Distribution Units of an Expansion Rack" Required
4 Connect the power cord to the PDU mounted in expansion rack 2. "3.3.1 Connecting the Power Cords to the Power Distribution Units of an Expansion Rack" Required
5 Connect expansion rack 1 and expansion rack 2. "3.3.3 Coupling Racks" Required
6 Fix expansion rack 2 in place. "3.3.2 Fastening the Rack" Required
7 Add a crossbar unit to the crossbar boxes (BB#80, BB#81) mounted in expansion rack 1. "Chapter 12 Maintaining the Crossbar Units" in the Crossbar Box for Fujitsu SPARC M12 and Fujitsu M10/SPARC M10 Service Manual Required
8 Mount the target SPARC M12-2S in the expansion rack. "3.4.1 Mounting the SPARC M12-2S in a Rack" Required
9 Reattach the labels of the crossbar cables, and replace the cables. "4.3.3 Changing Crossbar Cables" Required
10 Connect the crossbar cables and XSCF BB control cables to each chassis. "B.5 From the 9BB Configuration to 16BB Configuration (Connections via a Crossbar Box)" Required (*1)
11 Connect the crossbar cables and XSCF BB control cables that pass between the racks. "4.2 Connecting XSCF Cables"
"4.3 Connecting Crossbar Cables"
Required
12 Set a BB-ID for the SPARC M12-2S. "4.1 Setting the ID (BB-ID) Identifying the SPARC M12-2S" Required
13 Connect LAN cables to the chassis mounted in expansion rack 2, which has been added.
If a PCIe card is mounted, connect a LAN cable and I/O cable to the respective ports on the PCIe card.
"5.1 Connecting Cables to the SPARC M12-2S" Required
14 Connect the serial cable to the crossbar box of the master XSCF.
Also, confirm that all the power cords are connected.
"5.3 Connecting Cables to the Crossbar Box" Required
15 Connect the system management terminal to the crossbar box of the master XSCF, and then perform an initial diagnosis of the system. "6.1 Connecting the System Management Terminal"
"6.3 Logging In to the XSCF"
"6.4 Confirming the XCP Firmware Version"
"6.7 Performing a Diagnosis Test"
"6.8 Checking the Component Status"
Required
16 When duplicating memory, configure memory mirroring. "7.6 Configuring Memory Mirroring" Optional
17 Create a PPAR configuration list. "7.7 Creating a PPAR Configuration List" Required
18 Assign the SPARC M12-2S (physical system board (‌PSB)‌) to a physical partition. "7.8 Assigning/Releasing a Physical System Board (PSB) for a Physical Partition (PPAR)" Required
19 Clear the difference between the system time and physical partition (PPAR) time. "7.9 Synchronizing the Physical Partition (PPAR) Time and XSCF Time" Required
20 Register a CPU Activation key with the system. "7.10 Registering a CPU Activation Key" Required
21 Assign CPU core resources to the physical partition. "7.11 Assigning CPU Core Resources" Required
22 Confirm the start/stop of the physical partition and the connection of the console. "7.12.1 Checking the Start and Stop of a Physical Partition (PPAR)" Required
23 Confirm the system running status. "10.5.3 Checking the FRU Status After Maintenance" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual Required
24 Reconfigure the logical domains. "3.2 Operations and Commands Related to Logical Domain Configurations" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12 and Fujitsu M10/SPARC M10 Domain Configuration Guide Required
*1 Crossbar cables and XSCF BB control cables are already laid in the expansion rack. The work here is to connect the cables to each port of the mounted chassis. Connect the cables according to the instructions written on the labels.
