8.3.3 System-Stopped Expansion
8.3.3 System-Stopped Expansion
This section describes the method of expanding by stopping all physical partitions. Perform the work in accordance with the procedure of the reference.
Procedure | Work Description | Reference | |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Confirm the flow of system-stopped expansion. | Required | |
2 | Turn off the power of all physical partitions. | "7.12.4 Stopping All Physical Partitions (PPARs)" | Required |
3 | Turn the mode switch of OPNL to Service mode. (*1) | "2.11 Checking the Functions of the Operation Panel" | Required |
4 | Remove all power cords from SPARC M12-2S. | "9.8.2 Removing the Power Cords" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual | Required |
5 | To add the SPARC M12-2S, mount it in the rack. | "3.4.1 Mounting the SPARC M12-2S in a Rack" | Required |
6 | Perform ID setting and cable connection to realize the building block configuration. | "Chapter 4 Setting the SPARC M12-2S in a Building Block Configuration" | Required |
7 | Connect the LAN cable and power cord to the chassis to be added. | "5.1 Connecting Cables to the SPARC M12-2S" "5.4 Storing Cables" |
Required |
8 | Log in to the master XSCF, and perform a system diagnosis. | "6.1 Connecting the System Management Terminal" "6.3 Logging In to the XSCF" (*2) To reboot the XSCF firmware on all XSCFs: "rebootxscf(8)" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12 and Fujitsu M10/SPARC M10 XSCF Reference Manual (Example: rebootxscf -a) "6.4 Confirming the XCP Firmware Version" "6.7 Performing a Diagnosis Test" "6.8 Checking the Component Status" |
Required |
9 | Turn the mode switch of OPNL to Locked mode. (*3) | "2.11 Checking the Functions of the Operation Panel" | Required |
10 | Configure the XSCF network. The setting is unnecessary when expanding with multiple units (BB#02 or later). | "7.5.2 Setting an Ethernet (XSCF-LAN) IP Address" | Optional |
11 | To configure memory mirroring for the added SPARC M12-2S, set memory mirror mode. | "7.6 Configuring Memory Mirroring" | Optional |
12 | Execute the setpcl command to create a PPAR configuration list. | "7.7 Creating a PPAR Configuration List" | Required |
13 | Register a CPU Activation key with the system. | "7.10 Registering a CPU Activation Key" | Optional |
14 | Set the number of CPU Activations in the physical partition and assign CPU core resources. | "7.11 Assigning CPU Core Resources" | Optional |
15 | Assign the SPARC M12-2S (physical system board (PSB)) to a physical partition. | "7.8.1 Assigning a Physical System Board (PSB) to a Physical Partition (PPAR)" | Required |
16 | Power on all physical partitions. | "7.12.2 Starting All Physical Partitions (PPARs)" | Required |
17 | Confirm the system running status. | "10.5.3 Checking the FRU Status After Maintenance" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12-2/M12-2S Service Manual | Required |
18 | Assign the resources of the added SPARC M12-2S to the logical domain. | "3.2 Operations and Commands Related to Logical Domain Configurations" in the Fujitsu SPARC M12 and Fujitsu M10/SPARC M10 Domain Configuration Guide | Required |
*1 Also turn the OPNL mode switch of the SPARC M12-2S to be added to Service mode. *2 If the XCP firmware version of the maintenance part is different from that of the existing system, the following message appears after login to the XSCF: "XSCF firmware update now in progress. BB#xx, please wait for XSCF firmware update complete." The update automatically matches XCP firmware versions. Version matching takes time. Execute the showlogs monitor command to confirm that the message "XCP update has been completed" is displayed, which indicates the completion of the XCP firmware update. *3 Also turn the OPNL mode switch of the added SPARC M12-2S to Locked mode. |
