2.4 Logical Domain Conditions and Settings
Note - Logical Domains Manager, which is management software for Oracle VM Server for SPARC, is used to configure a logical domain. When configuring a logical domain, see the Oracle VM Server for SPARC manual of the version used and find out the required software.
Note - This section only provides as much information as necessary to configure a logical domain. For details on the functions available in Oracle VM Server for SPARC, see the Oracle VM Server for SPARC manual of the version used and find out the required software.
Set the following contents when configuring a logical domain.
Initial configuration of the control domain
In the initial state, all the hardware resources are assigned to the control domain (factory-default configuration). Therefore, you should review the assignment of hardware resources on the control domain to prepare the hardware resources for guest domains. To do so, perform the following work:
  1. Default service setting
  2. Delayed reconfiguration mode setting
  3. Releasing virtual CPU resources
  4. Releasing virtual memory resources
  5. Releasing I/O resources or virtual I/O resources
  6. Saving control domain settings
Configuration of a guest domain
After reviewing the assignment of hardware resources to the control domain, assign hardware resources to each guest domain. To do so, perform the following work:
  1. Virtual CPU assignment
  2. Virtual memory assignment
  3. Virtual network settings
  4. Virtual disk settings
  5. Startup device settings
  6. Automatic restart settings
  7. Saving guest domain settings
