8.2.1 Preparing the Necessary Tools
The preparation work is the same as that for initial installation. Confirm the contents as shown below.
Table 8-1 lists components that must be added during expansion of direct connections between chassis in a configuration of up to the 4BB configuration.
Table 8-1  Components for Connection of Two to Four Devices (Direct Connections Between Chassis)
No. Expansion Pattern Name Quantity
1 Expanding from the 1BB configuration to the 2BB configuration Crossbar cable 8
XSCF BB control cable 1
XSCF DUAL control cable 1
2 Expanding from the 2BB configuration to the 3BB configuration Crossbar cable 16
XSCF BB control cable 2
3 Expanding from the 3BB configuration to the 4BB configuration Crossbar cable 24
XSCF BB control cable 2
The configuration when two or more SPARC M12-2S units are added has a corresponding combination of the components shown above.
Components in Table 8-1 are not necessary when two to four devices in the BB configuration are mounted into the expansion rack in the connection via a crossbar box.
When expanding to 5BB or a higher configuration, you need to introduce the expansion rack.
Expanding to up to 8BB configuration, you need to introduce expansion rack 1. When expanding to 9BB to 16BB configuration, you need to introduce expansion rack 2 in addition to expansion rack 1.
Items necessary for expansion such as dedicated power distribution unit (PDU), crossbar box, and cables are provided in the expansion rack. For the components of expansion rack 1 and rack 2, see "3.2.3 Confirming the Delivered Components of the Expansion Rack."
