Watchdog Help

This window is used to set up the Software and Boot Watchdog monitoring. The Software Watchdog is a function that periodically monitors the partition status via the MMB firmware. The Watchdog action is executed when PSA does not restart the Watchdog timer within the specified length of time. The Boot Watchdog monitors the OS boot sequence. When the boot sequence is not completed within the defined length of time, the action specified in the ASR Control menu is executed. For the Boot Watchdog to function, the timeout value must not be specified in the ASR Control menu.

Boot Watchdog

Item Description
Watchdog Enable or disable Boot Watchdog monitoring
- Disable: Disable monitoring
- Enable: Enable monitoring
The default setting is [Disable].
Time Out Specify a timeout value in seconds, which is used while Boot Watchdog monitoring is enabled: Range: 60 to 6000 seconds.
Calculate this value based on the elapsed time from partition power-on to display of the startup completed message(FJSVpsa: I 00069 PM startup succeeded) on the syslog. Fujitsu recommends setting a value that is at least twice this elapsed time in order to prevent mistaken detection. Also, consider the time taken to save a dump in the event of an OS panic.
This item can be specified only if [Enable] is selected. The default setting is 6000 seconds.
