Eco checker
Eco checker is a device that contains metal pieces of 5 different kinds in a small case. After exposing eco checker to subject environment for 30 days, discoloration in metal test pieces are compared against the "Reference color" to identify description of corrosive gas and its approximate concentration. The kinds of gas detectable with this device are sulfur dioxide gas, hydrogen sulfide, and gas of chlorine-kind.
Upon customer's request, we implement fluorescent X-ray analysis to provide more accurate result than that obtained from referencing color sample.

The device is suitable for measuring corrosive gas in following environment;
- Computer room, telecommunication equipment room
- Warehouse, office
- Clean room
- Sea coast, factory site, filled ground, urban area with heavy traffic
Example
As one of cause for failure in electronics devices, we can point out trace corrosive gas existing in installation environment for appliances/devices. Eco checker allows us to measure the amount of trace corrosive gas in environment. Here are the examples of Eco checker utilization; to investigate into a root cause of a failure in electronic device due to "component corrosion".
Before environment improvement
(hydrogen sulfide: approximately 600-700ppb)
After environment improvement
(hydrogen sulfide: approximately 0-5ppb)
- Investigate the ambient environment of system installation room.
- Analysis result shows hydrogen sulfide is detected in high concentration; which is a cause of defect in electronic device.
- Source of the gas is identified as coming from sewage holding tank located beneath the installation room.
- Implement prevention against hydrogen sulfide coming into the installation room.
- Re-investigation completed and effect verified.
Approximate concentration
Average value of densities obtained at read point during period of investigation.
In the method that samples gas in environment, the result may be impacted by the conditions of the sewage holding tank or direction of the wind.
As Eco checker provides the result by taking average of readings taken each day within 30-day, the impact of temporal environmental condition is relatively small. Eco checker is therefore suitable for investigation into installation environment where an electronic appliance is in service for a long period of time.
