Automatic ELG Lapping System
This equipment laps all each MR head of row-bar into regulation resistance by minute elastic modification (seven points) of the bar, measuring ELG resister value, in the ABS surface(surfacing side) lapping process.

Precision one side lapping machine
Facing unit true direct degree : 1μm or less
Field deflection accuracy of lapping surface : 1μm or less
Rocking mechanism
Capable of rocking/rocking like character "8".
Rocking mechanism evacuates automatically from the lapping surface after lapping process end.
Base unit
Minute elastic modification function by air pressure using air cylinder.
Air pressure can be controlled variously by electrical controlled valve regulator.
Wiper unit
Wiping function for compulsive removal of slurry.
ELG resister measurment
2 msec or less per one head.
Bending control
Control processed while correcting curvature of row-bar pasted on a lapping jig. (the jig is bent.)

- The jig is designed so that each bending point might interfere mutually.
- Each bending point is bended (push and pull) by air cylinder and rink mechanism.
- Bending is controlled for minimizing the disparsion of resistance, monitoring all ELG(Electric Lapping Guide) resistance in row-bar.
- Processing accuracy MRh(ρ) = 10nm or less
Notes : MRh (MR height)
The converted value of ELG resistance into the thickness direction size of row-bar.
Others
2 row-bars can be lapped simultaneously by 2 heads.
Freely choose and select a combination of various processing parameters.
