Fujitsu Family Association Overview

FFA

Fujitsu Family Association is one of Fujitsu's Users associations which consists of Japanese corporations from various industries. LS Research Committee is a part of it.

The Fujitsu Family Association was established in May 1964 with a total membership of 37 companies focused on mutual communication and education among Fujitsu customers. On its 25th anniversary, the slogan "Sharing Dreams, Pitching Knowledge" was established. Currently it has approximately 3,800 members and has become the largest IT System customers' association in Japan. It consists of the head office, 11 domestic branches and the "LS research committee". Over 400 activities a year such as research workshops, seminars and social gatherings are held, based on the 3 basic concepts of cross-business networking, information exchange and human resource training.

Nationwide Activities

The head office holds general meetings in spring and autumn where around 1,000 members from all over Japan participate. "Bulletin Family" (print edition: 6 issues a year, web edition: 4 issues a year) is published. Case studies (papers) from members are introduced, and selections for best papers are made and published (once a year). In addition, various types of information are offered on its website.

Branch Activities

Eleven local branches in various regions conduct over 400 locally focused activities every year. These include research meetings, seminars and social gatherings, for the purpose of exchange of the latest information, mutual communication and human resource training.

LS Research Committee

This committee was established in December 1978 as the "Large-System Research Association" consisting of Fujitsu's large mainframe computer users. It was merged into the "Fujitsu Family Association" and started its activities as the "LS Research Committee" in April 2007. The committee performs research for effective use of IT and advanced IT concepts and systems. Its core activities are one-year studies on specific and advanced themes related to business/technology by small working groups (around 10 persons each). (For 2011, there are 16 groups / 235 persons.)
